Potential four stars here but I need to go back for another visit. It's nice that they have both the market and a sizable restaurant eating area. I liked my sausage sandwich. They have a good selection of unusual dried pasta shapes as well as lots of baked goodies to take home. Why only three stars? I wasn't a fan of their gelato - good but more like ice cream. I prefer the gelato at Parisi. The cannoli looked great but the filling, in my opinion was too sweet. I enjoy the people who work there and will definitely go back. I know there is another star there.

I have been going here for years. I get my Italian cold cuts, cheeses, sausage, and bread here. It is just a friendly neighborhood place. They also have pre made sauces, lasagna, etc. You can also find all of those hard to get Italian grocery products, such as lupini beans, imported canned tomatoes, and pastas. I have heard that it is a good place to have lunch as well.

I really enjoy the ambiance and food of this place. They have great sandwiches and desserts. I haven't tried everything on the menu... but, I'm working on it. I have had their meatball sandwich, Italian Sausage Sandwich, Pastrami and hamburger. They were all delicious. I knock off a star, because the service can be slow. Other than that... they're great.

Great little Italian deli and grocery. The meatball sandwich is the best I have had since moving from the east coast 4 years ago. The turkey panini is quite tasty layered with turkey cheese and pesto. EVERYTHING in the bakery is delish. They have prepared frozen meals so you don't have to cook. The staff is very friendly. I do wish they were open later.

I just moved a few blocks away from this place. Having relocated to the burbs from downtown, I am actively seeking out local restaurants in the hopes of avoiding chains. I'm glad that I discovered this great little market/eatery. I've been there about four times in the past two weeks. The meatball rolls and sandwiches are pretty good, as is the gelato (which, as one reviewer pointed out, is more like ice cream than gelato...but it's still wonderful). My wife is enthralled by the vast array of desserts and wants to eventually try every single one (the brownie and the cannolis have been a huge hit with her so far). But we're particularly in love with the red sauce, which comes as a side with some of the sandwiches and can also be lugged home by the gallon. There are some oddities: The meatball roll comes with green chiles inside (the meatball sub does not). The sausage sandwich wasn't what I was expecting (a sausage patty, not a link). And I'm often the youngest person in there (most are regulars in their 70s and 80s). But overall I'm a big fan. The older crowd is part of the charm. And there's a lot more to choose from: Aside from two dozens sandwiches and pasta dishes, they also have take-home lasagna and pizza crust as well as fresh-baked breads and cured meats. I was expecting chain city when I moved to Wheat Ridge. Vinnola's was a nice surprise.

This is my go to Italian market. I love the way this place smells when you first walk in. Reminds me of grandma's house. They have a wonderful array of Italian goods, fresh ricotta cheese for your homemade lasagna, a nice selection of frozen pastas (almost as good as fresh), and don't get me started on the bakery items. Well, maybe a little. I love their cannolis. The pistachio is probably my favorite (it usually gets eaten on the car ride home). And they're fresh baked breads are the perfect accompaniment to any Italian dinner. This is also a great place to stop for lunch, grab a sausage roll, calzone or some pizza. Nothing fancy, but inexpensive and delicious.

I just ate lunch here and it's OK. my Italian sub was good; fresh Italian roll, yummy cold cuts. They don't inclue may or mustard on the sandwich but they have little packets you can use if you like. I had the Italian soda to drink and that was very nice. Cherry flavor! I got a great little caramel brownie for dessert too. I'll go back some time, but this probably won't ever be an absolute favorite.

Lunch on the go: salami and provolone, short size, huge brownie with lots a walnuts on top (my choice, out of scores of italian bakery choices), and iced tea. Cheap. Good. Pleasant atmosphere Hmm come to think of it, I still have half a brownie left for my bedtime snack. Yum.

This review is for market only. This place is near my aunt's (she told me about this little gem) so I always stop in for some fresh pizza dough, homemade marinara sauce so I can make my homemade pizza. Their sausage there too is bomb too! I also found some hot cherry pepper relish to put on my sandwiches I take to work. Score! I would really like to try the deli sometime too. I wanted to look at everything! Oh, did I mention their pizza dough is cheaper than you can make at home. It costs less than $2.. Shhh....You had me at pizza dough Vinnola's.

Vinnola's Italian Market is like Wheat Ridge summarized in deli form: affordable, unpretentious, deliciously Italian, and filled with people who were eligible for Social Security in the 70s. How about a freshly made panini to take with you and eat while you watch Murder She Wrote? Maybe enjoy a cannoli while you reminisce about the Roaring 20s? Plus if your nursing home or assisted living center has a freezer, frozen ravioli is available, next to the cheeses and deli meats.

So we drove from SE Aurora to check out a real Italian Deli looking for great Italian Balsamic Vinegar. Quite a dissapointment to drive that far and really find like 3 choices ~sigh~ They didn't have the selection of imported goods I had hoped for, so we decided as long as we were their we would get a sandwich, ~sigh~ also sub-pepperoncini, Italian spices, nope it was a salami, provolone, cold lettuce tomatoe that was it Bummer for Vinnola's

I've had lunch here probably 200 times, no joke. Good bread, good food, and always friendly service. The user who didnt like his catered salad sounds like he was given an italian style salad and not a caesar salad. Like he said, oh well. I used to work at a cookie stand as a kid and their cookies are top notch. Their chicken club sandwich is so addictive it's not fair. The place is a winner all the way.

I love this place. Been coming here since high school for their sausage sandwich w/ cheese and peppers. It's also a helpful little italian market. Their pizza dough is awesome and the conoli's are delish.

Vinnola's is the best Italian market in town! Besides having a big selection of imported pastas, olive oils, sauces, and canned goods, there is so much more. The giant bakery is not to be missed, and the deli has a good variety of meats and cheeses. There's a cold case as well where you can buy pizza dough, sauce and cheese, or you can pick up homemade entrees like lasagna, and you can get pretty much everything you need for an Italian feast for one to twenty people here. I always make sure to eat while I'm here - next to the bakery there is a counter where you can order panini, pastas, or that day's pizza. I'm addicted to the #5 panini, which comes with prosciutto, salami and fresh mozzarella on grilled focaccia bread. There's really no need for me to try any other one, though several of them do look quite good. And of course, I have to have dessert, and that involves making a tough decision. I usually go for the chocolate cherry cannoli, but the eclair is also a favorite, as are some of the brownies and cookies. All in all, you have to make a trip here and enjoy being Italian!

I love violas, it is so close to home and great meatball subs. The desserts are to die for double fudge carmel brownie was to die for. They also have authentic Italian deli and market. When i need Italian sausage for my spaghetti sauce I come here. It is an excellent lunch place, just wish they didn't use styrofoam!

I had to revise this review because I had too friggin' much coffee that day (recently picked up an espresso machine) and was grouchy as hell. That's my excuse for being bi-polar. Sorry Mark. This little market in a shopette west of Wadsworth has a great homemade sausage and sells a good assortment of cheeses and salami's too. They also sell fresh and dried pasta and lots of other ingredients for making that special italian dish you want to conquer after watching Mario or Giada on FoodTV. They have a pastry counter full of great cookies and stuff and a small dining area that they serve lunch items that are just okay. There are better choices I think for catering a lunch nearby (or having lunch for that matter) but if you must, be specific about what it is you want (check out Mark M.'s review). Try a nice sopressata or some prosciutto di parma and definitely try the dried sausage (if they have any left. It's not in the display, you have to ask for it.). We'll usually buy our meats and olives and cheese here and go to Dolce Sicilia down on Wadsworth for a killer focacia (don't forget to hit Costco or Sam's Club for a bottle of wine). Buona fortuna!

I wish I could give this place more stars but I just can't. I had them cater a lunch for business meeting yesterday. I found them on Yelp and thought perfect, let's support the small independent deli rather than the large chain. The order was ready on time when I went to pick it up and the price was reasonable. However the food was such a let down. The sandwiches are OK but the bread was just not up to par and the meats were of OK quality - not great. The big disappointment was the Cesar salad. Since when do you use head lettuce for a Cesar? Not only was the lettuce limp and white, the salad was dressed in advance (ask them not to do this as we all know what dressing does to a salad after about 30 minutes). It gets weirder: no Parmesan on the salad, instead a massive wet layer of wet mozzarella followed by a thick layer of 30-40 whole pickled yellow wax peppers. The combination of dressing, wet cheese and peppers just made this a mess. Unlike any Cesar I've ever had. Then the cookie tray - maybe I just don't like Italian cookies. I thought these were kinda greasy with artificially colored sprinkles and hard, waxy frosting. I really like to support the small independent shops but I am sad to say that I would have gotten better product at Panera. Oh well.

Fresh Pastas and Pastries and Pizza Dough, Oh my! I stumbled my way onto this place when making a wrong turn while on my way to Radio Shack. That's what my art teacher in high school called a happy mistake. The funny thing was that most of the time she would be the one making them on MY PAINTINGS when trying to show me how to be creative...well that's another story. Vinnola's Rocks! As far as an Italian Market, you will be able to purchase fresh dough, sauces, pastries, deli meats, along with imports such as dried pastas, olive oils, vinegars, etc. As far as a Menu, they have everything from Pizza to Panini's and traditional Italian subs. I've had the Italians Sub and the Stromboli, both of which were excellent. I haven't had a Stromboli since my elementary school years during the Lunch Lady Land period of my life. There is a small seating area for the impatient ones. Check out their website; it has a lot of pictures of food and market items. I would also highly recommend the pistachio cannoli and the maraccino cherry-chocolate cannoli. Vinnola's is moderately priced and = Happy Round Face.

On Saturday, I arrived to pick up a large order of italian sausage that I ordered two weeks prior. When I arrived, they only had part of my order, which was not correct. They bragged that they sold so many sausage patties the day before.....yeah, my patties! They didn't offer me any discount, but basically told me to take what they've given me or leave without any. I will NEVER go to this deli again, regardless of the "great pastries"! I've always had a problem with their staff being very unfriendly, especially the older man that is usually always there. He's rude, makes you hurry before you are done, and could care less that you're even there. Saturday, there were 3 people there, the owner, the older man, and the gal that took my order, that screwed it up, but wouldn't admit to it. I will go to 20th & Wadsworth or the other 2 that are within 2-3 min. from Vinnola's. I'm tired of being treated like dirt!

We go a couple of times a week for lunch or take out. The lunch special simply can't be better! Sandwich or hot dish, soup or salad, drink for $6.95. The sandwiches are really delicious with terrific cold cuts of the much higher quality that you find in only the best delis. My only complaint is that we are turned away at least once a week due to the poor signage regarding handicapped access. Put up a do not park sign for the only cut in in the shopping center and all will be perfect! Oh...and get a napoleon for dessert! Wonderful!

Why is it that every time I come here I leave with bags and bags of various types of pasta? I mean, how many noodles does one need? Well the answer if you walk into Vinnola's is "infinite amounts". Seriously, how cute is Vinnola's? They have things that you never knew you needed! I mean, buccatini made from the wheat of a small village teaming with hot, Italian men is a necessity right? (So maybe I exaggerated a couple of those details.) My family loves to order their cream puffs. They are all homemade and make for great finger food deserts at dinner parties. I am not sure if the employees are all part of "the family" or not, but they are all really knowledgeable and super friendly. Their deli is also a great place if you are in the neighborhood and want to grab a quick bite. I recommend the Italian sausage sandwich. Also, try their gelato! YUM!

This place is awesome. They have an excellent pastry and cookie selection, and they also have a great selection of imported and housemade Italian food items. They also have a great little restaurant on the side, where they serve pasta and really good sandwiches. I also would recommend getting there lasagna noodles. They make making your own lasagna so much easier than if you make the dough by hand. They also have amazing cannolis. Get the chocolate one, it's hands-down the best. I absolutely love this place and will continue to be a regular.

What a cool little place! My mother took me here to reminisce a bit, as her grandmother used to buy fresh ingredients here back in the heyday of the Italian community in Denver and some of our family members are still regular customers. We came for lunch and I had a great veggie panini (I'm a sucker for anything with fresh mozzarella) on focaccia bread and my mother had an Italian sausage sandwich that she loved as well. After we ate, we looked at their other wares and found they had a great selection of meats, breads, and cheeses as well as some sundries like pastas and brands that may be difficult to find in your typical grocery store. And of course, the sweets display is not to be forgotten! I was mesmerized by an overwhelming array of biscotti, brownies, cookies, and other pastries that all looked yummy but I was won over by the cannolis. I got the standard Italian Cannoli and wished I could have eaten five more, it was so good! I can't attest to their other pastries but oh, how tempting they looked. The other really cool thing about Vinnola's is that everyone is quite open and friendly, even to newcomers like us. Most of the people coming in or dining were obviously regulars--just like a scene out of older Italian-American movies or TV shows--but the people behind the counter were very personable to everyone, which was a nice touch and added to the homey feel. Overall, it was a charming market with friendly people and nice food, and my mother left feeling happily nostalgic.

I've always enjoyed this place. We have yet to have a sit down lunch here but that may come. For now I tend to visit to pick up desserts or whatever strikes my fancy. Recently I tried their prepared manicotti. Actually we tried it twice in the last two weeks. It was about $12 for a good sized portion. All I can say is that it was sensational. The filling was perfecto. My wife said it was the best she has ever had! And I agree with her too. Perhaps I will change my mind someday but for now this deserves 5 stars so I'm giving it to them. Of course it's not a cozy cute place to eat but it's the food! We are very happy to live close by because it's a great place to go order and take it home.

The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is AMAZING! Can be a little pricey depending on what you get but it's so worth it. My fave is the meatball sandwich and my hubby's is the sausage!

Updating my review based on a more recent visit to the market. I'm sad to see their supply is very depleted, with just a couple of barely-stocked shelves of (extremely) overpriced items. To the point of ridiculousness. A box of Pomi Tomatoes, that I can get at Whole Foods for $2.60 is $6.50 at Vinnola's. That is NOT a typo. SIX DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS. So... when I'm comparing your prices to Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck) and your prices are extraordinarily HIGH... there's a problem, Houston. We also shared a Chocolate Cannoli. The "Shell" was more of a puff pastry, and the filling was a "Creme" filling rather than a traditional ricotta cannoli with cocoa powder.... So, while it was a good pastry, it wasn't a Cannoli. Maybe their sandwiches are good. At this point, though, I won't find out.

This is the best Italian deli out there. The food is amazing and the people who work there are so friendly. They have amazing sausage, pastries, pizza crust, lasagna.....you name it, it's amazing! We go quite often and will continue to go for more great food and friendly service!

Italian market might overstate it. Limited grocery items but excellent deli case and bakery. Cakes need to be ordered but are wonderful. Small dining area where you can eat-in pizza, paninis, sandwiches, strombolis, etc. One word of warning - don't go when you're in a hurry - they move at their own pace and can be brutally slow, but good food if you can relax and "go with the flow."

My friend, Gitana, said exactly what I wanted to say, :Holy Moly Six Kinds of Canoli! I had the Italian and the Cherry, both were great. I also picked up tomato puree to make my father in law's spaghetti sauce, sausage for my lasagna, meatballs for the husband, and John's pasta. And that completed my shopping list. Be sure to ask if you do not see it as lots of items are in the back. Great service and everything I need to make my Sunday gravy.

They don't get many virgins at Vinnola's. We went for lunch (with a Groupon) today and we were obviously the only first-time customers there. This wonderful little market and restaurant appears to be a Wheat Ridge institution. Everyone else knew exactly what they wanted. I found the menus to be somewhat confusing. There is the Pepsi menu up high on the wall. And, then the yellow menu below that. And, then they hand you a laminated piece of paper with Lunch Specials, And, there is the whiteboard. In spite of this confusion in my tiny brain, we managed to order very good food. Sausage sandwich with peppers is a classic example of the genre. The bread was perfect for absorbing the accompanying marinara sauce. Reuben was quite good. I know it is not Italian, but I love them and, for me, they are good test item. I was very happy with the thinly-sliced meat. Tender and no gristle nor fat. The service is super friendly. We wandered around after lunch and spent more money of pasta, pasta sauce, cannoli and gelato. What they need to make it 5 stars: 1. Wi-Fi that actually connects to the InnerTubes. Free Wi-Fi disconnected from the outside world is not very useful. 2. Beer.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
